Pakistan Struggles in Second Innings as South Africa Leads by 90 Runs in First Test

Islamabad: In the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and South Africa, Pakistan’s batting struggled on the second day, finishing with a score of 88 for 3 in their second innings, still trailing by two runs after South Africa posted 301 in their first innings.

Pakistan faced early setbacks in their chase as Saim Ayub was dismissed for 28 runs by Kagiso Rabada. Captain Shan Masood, who had also scored 28 runs, was caught out off Johnson’s delivery, and Kamran Ghulam fell for a mere 4 runs after a similar mistake, caught off Bosch.

Earlier in the day, South Africa was bowled out for 301, extending their lead by 90 runs. Aiden Markram’s brilliant 89 and debutant Corbin Bosch’s vital 81 saved South Africa from a collapse. Captain Temba Bavuma (31) and David (30) also contributed, but the rest of the South African lineup failed to build substantial partnerships.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad and Naseem Shah claimed three wickets each, while Amir Jamal took two wickets. Mohammad Abbas and Saim Ayub both dismissed one batter.
