DHAKA: (Web Desk) – Bangladesh national cricket team were bowled out for 278 on the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan national cricket team at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, as Pakistan’s pace attack kept constant pressure on the hosts throughout the day.
Fast bowler Khurram Shahzad starred with the ball by claiming four wickets, while Muhammad Abbas picked up three wickets. Hasan Ali contributed with two scalps and spinner Sajid Khan added one wicket to complete Bangladesh’s collapse.
Despite regular setbacks, wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das produced a fighting knock of 126 runs to rescue the hosts after the middle order struggled against disciplined Pakistani bowling.
At one stage during the second session, Bangladesh suffered a dramatic collapse after captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz were dismissed within just 36 deliveries, reducing the home side to 116-6.

Litton Das then rebuilt the innings alongside Taijul Islam as the pair stitched together an important partnership that helped Bangladesh recover from the collapse and post a competitive total.
Pakistan made an impressive start earlier in the day when Muhammad Abbas dismissed opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a duck in the first over. Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mominul Haque attempted to stabilise the innings with a brief partnership before Pakistan’s bowlers regained control.
The visitors made three changes to their lineup for the crucial Test, including the return of star batter Babar Azam after injury. Pakistan are aiming to level the series after losing the opening Test by 104 runs in Mirpur.
