Pakistan Navy Showcases Missile, Drone Capabilities in Naval Exercise

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy has reaffirmed its operational readiness and combat strength through a large-scale naval exercise conducted in the North Arabian Sea, highlighting both conventional and unmanned warfare capabilities in line with modern naval combat requirements.

According to an ISPR press release, the exercise included the successful live-firing of the LY-80 (N) surface-to-air missile from a Vertical Launch System at extended range, effectively neutralizing an aerial target and validating the Navy’s long-range air defence capability.

In addition, the Navy successfully demonstrated precision strikes using Loitering Munition, accurately engaging and destroying designated surface targets. The exercise also marked a major advancement in autonomous warfare with the successful open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV).

The USV trials showcased exceptional speed, agility, accurate navigation, and resilience in challenging weather conditions, offering a low-risk yet high-impact operational platform with stealth interceptor capabilities.

The exercise was observed by the Commander Pakistan Fleet, underscoring the Navy’s capacity to effectively deploy advanced combat systems. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the officers and sailors for their professionalism and operational excellence, reiterating the Navy’s unwavering commitment to defending Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and safeguarding national interests at sea.
