Pakistan Motorway Traffic Disruption Hits M-5 Highway
Pakistan Motorway Traffic Disruption Closes Key Route Between Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan
Motorway M5 – (Web Desk) – Strong winds and storms triggered a serious Pakistan motorway traffic disruption on Motorway M-5 after high-transmission power lines collapsed onto the road. Authorities quickly closed affected sections to protect commuters.
Motorway Police suspended all heavy traffic movement between Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan as a safety precaution. Entry of heavy vehicles and public transport from both Rohri and Panno Aqil heading north was also stopped.
The fallen power lines blocked both southbound and northbound lanes near kilometre 510 on M-5. Emergency and repair teams were sent to the site immediately after the incident was reported.
Travellers were diverted through alternative routes at Iqbalabad and Guddu. Those travelling from Punjab to Sindh were advised to take National Highway N-5 via Rahim Yar Khan from Iqbalabad.
Commuters heading from Sindh to Punjab were directed to use the same National Highway N-5 and re-enter Motorway M-5 from Rahim Yar Khan once conditions improved.
Rescue teams and relevant authorities were notified without delay. Repair crews worked on-site to remove the fallen transmission lines and restore the road to normal use.
Motorway Police urged all citizens to avoid non-essential travel until the route fully reopened. Work is actively ongoing to clear the blockage and reopen M-5 as soon as possible.
