Pakistan Introduces New Visa Policy: Fee Waivers for 126 Countries

Pakistan is Embracing Global Openness, Declares Minister Tarar

Pakistan: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar announced the introduction of a new visa policy during the Independence Day celebrations.

Effective from noon today, the policy eliminates visa fees for citizens of 126 countries and streamlines the application process.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Minister Tarar emphasized the government’s commitment to facilitating international travel to Pakistan, highlighting the nation’s abundant natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. “Our country is blessed with every natural blessing,” he noted, expressing the government’s intent to draw tourists from around the world.

Under the newly implemented policy, visitors from the specified 126 countries can apply for a 90-day visa through a simplified form with only 30 questions. The visa will be issued immediately after the form is completed, drastically cutting down on bureaucracy and delays that have previously impeded tourist arrivals.

Additionally, special provisions have been made for residents of Gulf countries, allowing them to obtain visas upon arrival by simply presenting their passports.

“The doors of Pakistan are being opened to the world,” the minister declared, stating that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance Pakistan’s global image and attract more foreign visitors.

Minister Tarar also assured potential tourists that their safety and security are top priorities for the government. He mentioned that security agencies will be informed of tourist arrivals and that the Ministry of Interior is coordinating with provincial governments to ensure strong security measures are in place.

He also pointed to the significant growth in tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, where efforts are underway to promote quality and affordable accommodations for visitors. This initiative is expected to further enhance the region’s appeal as a leading destination for both domestic and international tourists.

In a related announcement, Minister Tarar revealed that the federal cabinet will formally welcome Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, at Noor Khan Air Base. He praised Nadeem’s historic victory, calling it a significant achievement for the nation.

Drawing a comparison with Pakistan’s 1992 Cricket World Cup victory, Tarar remarked, “The honor brought by Arshad Nadeem surpasses that of the 1992 World Cup.” He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had personally met with Nadeem before his departure to Paris and would give him a grand welcome upon his return.

The minister also underscored the government’s commitment to supporting athletes, both before and after their successes. He mentioned that Arshad Nadeem acknowledged the support provided by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, describing himself as “a plant nurtured by the Prime Minister.
