National Hockey Squad Selection Trials To Begin At Lahore Stadium

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan men’s national field hockey team will hold trials for the upcoming Pro Hockey League on May 19 and 20, as preparations continue for the international competition.

The two-day selection trials will take place at the National Hockey Stadium, after which the final squad for the tournament will be officially announced.

The selection process will be supervised by a committee headed by Samiullah Khan, who is overseeing preparations for the national side.

Pakistan India Hockey Clash Set for World Cup

A total of 35 players are currently participating in the national training camp. The goalkeepers in the camp include Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Ali Raza, Faizan Janjua and Waqar Younis.

The defensive and midfield group features Sufyan Khan, Muhammad Abdullah, Arshad Liaquat, Imad Shakeel Butt, Moin Shakeel, Hammad Anjum, Nadeem Khan, Ali Hamza, Omar Mustafa, Abu Bakr, Abdul Manan, Arbaaz, Muhammad Ahsan Nadeem, Muhammad Imad and Rana Waleed.

The forward line includes Ahmed Nadeem, Ghazanfar, Afraz Khan, Zakaria Hayat, Rana Waheed, Abdul Rehman, Hanan Shahid, Adeel Latif, Basharat Ali, Ali Murtaza, Umair Sattar, Bilal, Abuzar, Abdullah Yousuf, Hamza Fayyaz and Abdul Wahab.

Following the completion of the trials, the final national squad will be selected for the third and fourth stages of the Pro Hockey League, where Pakistan are scheduled to face Belgium men’s national field hockey team, Spain men’s national field hockey team, England men’s national field hockey team and India men’s national field hockey team.
