Pakistan, Egypt Agree to Boost Defence and Strategic Cooperation

Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan and Egypt share a longstanding partnership, which continues to expand in security and various other fields.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to enhance cooperation in defence and several other key sectors during a high-level meeting between the foreign ministers of both countries.

A delegation-level meeting was held between Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, followed by a joint press conference. Ishaq Dar warmly welcomed the Egyptian minister’s visit and described it as an important milestone in strengthening the historic and brotherly ties between the two nations.

Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan and Egypt share a longstanding partnership, which continues to expand in security and various other fields. He added that the Egyptian foreign minister’s visit would help advance shared goals and boost cooperation in political, economic, defence, cultural, and people-to-people relations. Pakistan has also decided to provide Egypt with a list of 250 business houses to explore new investment opportunities.

The Egyptian foreign minister thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality and said the two countries enjoy friendly and fraternal relations, with a firm resolve to further expand them. He condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Peshawar and expressed sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.

He stated that Pakistan and Egypt are committed to jointly addressing common challenges and have agreed to enhance cooperation in political dialogue, economic partnership, defence, and security sectors. He added that efforts for peace in Gaza are ongoing and acknowledged Pakistan’s important role in supporting the ceasefire. Egypt also expressed interest in Pakistan’s enhanced cooperation in Gaza’s reconstruction.

Both foreign ministers also discussed the situation in occupied Kashmir, Afghanistan, and other global issues, expressing their commitment to continued collaboration at multilateral forums.
