Pakistan Crush UAE by 114 Runs to Reach Emerging Asia Cup Semi-Finals
UAE-(Sports Reporter):Mohammad Haris’ unbeaten 71 off 49 balls, along with a stellar five-wicket haul from Shahnawaz Dahani, powered Pakistan to a commanding 114-run victory over the United Arab Emirates, securing their spot in the semi-finals of the Emerging Asia Cup 2024. The match took place on Wednesday at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman.
UAE, chasing 180 for victory, were bowled out for a mere 65 in less than 17 overs, with only captain Rahul Chopra putting up some fight by scoring 20 off 18 balls. The Shaheens’ bowlers, led by Dahani’s impressive 5-12, completely dismantled the UAE lineup.
Sufiyan Muqeem also shone with the ball, taking 2-17, while Ahmed Daniyal (1-10), Abbas Afridi (1-12), and Arafat Minhas (1-13) contributed with a wicket each.
Earlier, after choosing to bat first, Pakistan lost two early wickets with the score at 48. Omair Yousuf (21 off 11) and Yasir Khan (25 off 13) provided a solid start, while Mohammad Haris anchored the innings with a resilient 71, hitting six boundaries and three sixes. Qasim Akram added a steady 23 from 28 balls, while Haider Ali’s explosive unbeaten 32 off 17, which included one boundary and three sixes, helped Pakistan reach a formidable total of 179-4 in their 20 overs.
For UAE, Mohammad Farooq was the only bowler to make an impact, taking three wickets for 27 runs. Dahani was named player of the match for his exceptional bowling performance.
