Pakistan, Bangladesh Strengthen Defence Ties During CJCSC Visit

This visit marks a significant step toward enhancing defence collaboration between the two countries.

Rawalpindi: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) of Pakistan, visited Bangladesh on an official trip to discuss defence and security cooperation.

During his visit, General Mirza met with Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of Air Staff, and Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division. The discussions focused on the evolving global and regional security environment and emphasized strengthening bilateral defence ties.

The CJCSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding fraternal relationship with Bangladesh and expressed a shared commitment to deepening cooperation based on mutual respect and sovereign equality. Both sides highlighted plans to expand military-to-military engagements and collaborative initiatives.

General Mirza also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students. The civil-military leadership of Bangladesh lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Upon arrival at Senakunjo, a military contingent presented a ‘Guard of Honour’ to General Mirza, who also laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban in a mark of respect.
