Pakistan, Bangladesh Agree on Visa-Free Entry for Diplomatic Passports, Strengthen Security Cooperation
The ministers agreed on mutual exchange programs for police training academies.
Dhaka: Pakistan and Bangladesh have reached a principal agreement to grant visa-free entry to holders of diplomatic and official passports, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations. A joint committee has also been formed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Lieutenant General (R) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, in Dhaka. Upon arrival, Minister Naqvi received a warm welcome, including a guard of honor.
During the meeting between the interior ministers of Pakistan and Bangladesh, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral ties. They agreed to enhance collaboration in internal security and police training sectors.
To promote bilateral cooperation, a joint committee was established, with Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Interior, Khurram Agha, appointed as the head. A high-level Bangladeshi delegation is expected to visit Islamabad soon to review the Safe City Project and the National Police Academy.
The discussions also covered increasing joint efforts in combating narcotics trafficking and human smuggling, along with cooperation in counter-terrorism. The ministers agreed on mutual exchange programs for police training academies.
Lieutenant General (R) Jahangir Alam expressed heartfelt welcome to his Pakistani counterpart upon arrival in Dhaka, calling the visit crucial for strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh relations. He also thanked Minister Mohsin Naqvi for the offer of police training cooperation.

The delegation included Bangladesh’s State Minister for Interior Khoda Bakhsh, Secretary of Interior Nasim Elahi, Additional Secretary of Security Division Shamim Khan, along with Pakistan High Commission officials Muhammad Wasif and Political Counselor Kamran Dongol, among other senior officials.
