Pakistan and Turkey: A Unified Front on Trade and Regional Security

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during which both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, defense, and security.

Taking place on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, the discussion centered on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing regional and global challenges, as stated by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The two leaders also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming 7th session of the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), which is set to be held in Islamabad. Additionally, they addressed pressing regional and international issues, including the ongoing humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza, and jointly called for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in the region.
