Pak-Afghan Border Clash: Multiple Taliban Fighters Killed as Attack Foiled

Pakistan & Afghanistan – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Pakistan’s security forces have once again pushed back against hostility from across the border. In a fresh Pak-Afghan border clash, troops stopped Afghan Taliban fighters from carrying out an attack in the Gulistan sector. Several Taliban fighters were killed when our forces responded quickly and firmly.

The incident took place late Thursday night. According to security sources, the attackers tried to sneak into Pakistani territory to launch an assault. But our troops were ready. They acted fast and stopped the threat before it could spread further.

Gunfire between both sides continued on and off through the night. Security officials say the area remains tense, but our forces are staying alert. They are watching every movement closely and are fully prepared for anything that comes next.

This clash didn’t happen out of nowhere. Just hours earlier, Pakistan had carried out air and drone strikes at ten spots inside Afghanistan. These strikes were a direct reply to drone attacks that Taliban forces had launched days before.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar shared more details about the situation. He said Pakistani forces had already shot down eight drones that entered our airspace from Afghanistan. Four of these drones came down near Torkham. The other four were destroyed in the hilly areas close to Kohat.

Tarar made it clear that Pakistan does not want a bigger fight. He said our country believes in peace, dialogue, and working things out through talks. But he also gave a strong warning. He said this peaceful approach should never be mistaken for weakness.

“Pakistan will defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the lives of its citizens with full resolve,” Tarar said. He added that any further provocation from the Afghan Taliban will get a firm and strong reply.

These border tensions are not new. Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan back in 2021, Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in cross-border attacks. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have been hit the hardest.

Islamabad has repeatedly asked Kabul to stop letting militant groups use Afghan soil to plan and launch attacks on Pakistan. But according to Pakistani officials, the Afghan Taliban government has failed to take real action. Kabul, on the other hand, denies this claim.

To deal with these growing threats, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq back in February 2026. This came months after both countries had agreed to a ceasefire in October 2025, following a wave of border clashes.

Even after several rounds of talks, Pakistan and Afghanistan still haven’t resolved their core disagreements. The issue of militant groups operating from Afghan territory remains the biggest hurdle between the two neighbours.

For now, the situation along the Pak-Afghan border stays sensitive. Our forces are on high alert, ready to respond to any threat, while officials continue pushing for a peaceful, long-term solution.
