SIALKOT: A wedding in Sialkot’s Bikhre Wali village turned into a spectacle as the groom’s brothers and friends showered millions of rupees in cash during the celebrations.
A viral video from the event showed the groom and his guests throwing money from a container, with both local and foreign currencies tossed into the crowd. The total amount showered was over Rs5 million. The tradition of cash showering at weddings is common in the village, which is known for its ties to overseas Pakistanis.
Despite economic hardships, extravagant weddings remain an important cultural event in Pakistan, reflecting social status and wealth.
