Over 3 months across Punjab, 89 terrorists arrested:CTD

CTD's major operation leads to 89 arrests across Punjab, preventing planned attacks and seizing explosives.

Punjab – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) -The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab has arrested 89 suspected terrorists. These arrests happened during 940 special missions over the last three months. The goal of these missions was to stop attacks and gather important information.

Recent times have seen a rise in terror attacks across Pakistan. The CTD works continuously to prevent these threats and keep people safe.

The arrests took place in many cities. Fourteen suspects were caught in both Lahore and Rawalpindi. Seven were arrested in Faisalabad and Bahawalpur. Six were caught in both Jhang and Sargodha. Arrests also happened in Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Bahawalnagar, and Gujrat.

Most of those arrested, 55, are linked to the banned group TTP. Five are from ISIS. Two are from Al-Qaeda, two from Hizb-ut-Tahrir, and two from Jeay Sindh.

During the raids, security officials found dangerous items. They seized over 20 kilograms of explosives, 85 detonators, and bomb-making materials. They also took mobile phones and cash as evidence.

The police have started 87 legal cases against those arrested. The suspects were planning to attack important buildings in various cities. The CTD has promised to continue its work for a “Safe Punjab.”

In other safety efforts this week, police conducted over 13,500 search operations. They checked more than half a million people and arrested over 1,100 suspects.

In a separate event this week, the CTD in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stopped three terrorists. Two of them were involved in a recent suicide bombing in Peshawar that killed two police officers.
