OPEC+ Raises Oil Production Amid Middle East Tensions

OPEC+ Boosts Output, Warns Of Infrastructure Risks And Volatility

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk)- OPEC+ has announced another increase in oil production quotas, raising output by 206,000 barrels per day (bpd) from May, marking the second consecutive month of growth. The cartel, which includes key producers such as Saudi Arabia, Russia, and several Gulf states, warned that repairing energy infrastructure damaged in Middle East conflicts is costly and time-consuming, and disruptions continue to pose risks to global supply.

OPEC+ stressed the importance of safeguarding international maritime routes to ensure uninterrupted energy flows. While the statement did not directly mention the Iran conflict, the ongoing strikes in the region and threats to the Strait of Hormuz have clearly influenced the decision.

The cartel also noted that attacks on energy infrastructure or disruptions to shipping increase market volatility, making it harder to stabilize oil prices. Countries that have successfully found alternative export routes were praised for helping reduce supply disruptions.
