OGRA Petrol Price Notification Today: Petrol, Diesel Rates Go Up Again

PAKISTAN – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – According to the OGRA petrol price notification today, the government has once again increased fuel prices across the country. This is the second hike within just two days, leaving many drivers frustrated at the pump.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, along with the Petroleum Division, confirmed the new rates in an official notice. Petrol now costs Rs4.40 more per litre, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs3.62 per litre.

With this change, petrol is now priced at Rs331.52 per litre. High-speed diesel, often called HSD, will now be sold at Rs378.66 per litre. Both new prices took effect right away, so people are already paying the higher rate at fuel stations.

This isn’t the first jump this week. Just a day before, fuel prices had already gone up sharply. Petrol had increased by Rs6.39 per litre, taking it to Rs327.12. Diesel had risen even more, going up by Rs7.83 per litre to reach Rs375.04.

So in just two days, petrol has become more expensive by over Rs10 per litre. Diesel has climbed by more than Rs11 per litre in the same short time. That’s a big jump for everyday commuters, transporters, and small business owners who depend on fuel daily.

Why is this happening so often? The answer lies in Pakistan’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism. Under this system, fuel prices are not fixed for weeks or months anymore. Instead, they change based on shifts in international oil prices and the value of the rupee against the dollar.

This means even small changes in global markets can directly affect what people pay locally. When oil prices rise abroad, or when the rupee weakens, the impact is felt almost immediately at petrol pumps across Pakistan.

For many families, these back-to-back increases are becoming hard to manage. Transport costs go up, which then affects the price of food, goods, and daily essentials. Even a small rise in fuel rates can create a ripple effect across the whole economy.

Motorcycle riders, car owners, and truck drivers are all feeling the pinch. Many people are now trying to cut down on unnecessary travel or planning trips more carefully to save fuel.

Business owners who rely on delivery vehicles are also concerned. Higher diesel prices mean higher transportation costs, which often get passed on to customers in the form of pricier goods and services.

The government says this pricing system helps keep fuel costs in line with global trends. But for the common man, it also means constant uncertainty. Prices that were fixed for two weeks in the past can now change every single day.
