OGDCL Supports Balochistan’s Boxing Sensation for World Championship
KP Governor Urges Businessmen to Support Talented Athletes
Peshawar: In a prestigious ceremony held at the Governor House, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presented a sponsorship check of Rs 2.55 million from Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to young Asian boxing champion Muhammad Shoaib Khan Zahri.
The Balochistan-born boxer is set to face an Indian opponent in the upcoming World Boxing Championship. General Manager Corporate Social Responsibility OGDCL Abdul Razzaq Khattak, vice chancellors of various universities, talented athletes, and prominent political and social figures attended the ceremony.
Governor Kundi expressed gratitude to OGDCL for their support and wished Shoaib Khan success in the championship. He emphasized the need to promote talented athletes, stating, “I meet many talented sportsmen daily, but it’s disheartening to see them struggling for support.”
The governor urged businessmen and philanthropists to come forward and support young athletes. Shoaib Khan thanked Governor Kundi and OGDCL for their sponsorship, vowing to make Pakistan proud with his performance.
“I’m committed to working hard and bringing glory to Pakistan,” he said.
The sponsorship will enable Shoaib Khan to prepare for his upcoming match against the Indian boxer, currently training in Dubai.
