Shahbaz Sharif Assumes Leadership Role in National Assembly, Stresses Unity for Pakistan’s Progress.

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who was not elected as the Prime Minister, delivered his first address to the National Assembly after assuming the position of the Leader of the House.

During his address, members of the opposition raised slogans against Shahbaz Sharif, while supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and allied members cheered in his favor. Some members of the Sunni Ittehad Council also chanted slogans during the Prime Minister’s speech.

Amidst the chants, Shahbaz Sharif expressed gratitude towards his party members and allies for nominating him for this position. He thanked Asif Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, and Khawaja Saad Rafique, among others, for their support.

Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the transformative leadership of his brother, Nawaz Sharif, who served as Prime Minister of Pakistan three times. He credited Nawaz Sharif for bringing prosperity and progress to Pakistan, emphasizing his role in strengthening democracy, rule of law, and justice in the country.

Acknowledging the contributions of other political leaders, Shahbaz Sharif paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his sacrifices for democracy, law, and justice. He also mentioned the injustices faced by Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, stating that they endured hardships for the betterment of Pakistan.

Shahbaz Sharif reiterated his commitment to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, emphasizing that neither him nor Asif Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, or Khawaja Saad Rafique ever pursued a policy against the interests of the country. He condemned the attacks on institutions and the armed forces, referencing incidents on May 9 and attacks on the GHQ.

Furthermore, Shahbaz Sharif recounted his interactions with IMF officials, where he conveyed Pakistan’s stance of not seeking assistance from the IMF. He mentioned that despite political sacrifices, he, along with other leaders, remained steadfast in their resolve to serve Pakistan.

Shahbaz Sharif’s address highlighted a message of unity and commitment towards the progress and development of Pakistan. As he assumes a prominent role in the National Assembly, his leadership is poised to navigate Pakistan through challenges while fostering unity and resilience among its citizens.
