New Prices of Ghee and Oil Spark Concern Among Citizens

Lahore: The rising prices of essential commodities in the open market have become a major concern for low-income families. Ghee and cooking oil, which are staple items in households, are now being sold at prices ranging from 500 to 560 rupees per kilogram.

In addition to the increased cost of ghee and oil, other basic food items have also seen a significant price hike. Different varieties of rice are now being sold for 320 to 500 rupees per kilogram, while sugar prices have surged to between 128 and 140 rupees per kilogram. A 20-kilogram bag of flour is currently priced between 1,730 and 1,760 rupees.

Citizens are increasingly distressed by the sharp rise in prices and have called on the government to take urgent action to curb inflation and provide relief to the public. The situation has particularly affected the lower-income groups, who are struggling to manage their daily expenses amid the growing cost of living.
