NEPRA Approves 40 Paisa Per Unit Electricity Price Hike for Karachi
The increase, effective August 2024, is linked to monthly fuel price adjustments and will impact consumer bills starting January 2025.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has sanctioned a price hike of 40 paisa per unit for electricity in Karachi, effective August 2024. This increase is attributed to adjustments in monthly fuel prices.
The decision has sparked criticism, as many believe it adds to the financial strain on the already burdened residents of Karachi.
NEPRA has released a notification confirming the price increase, indicating that the additional charges will be visible in consumers’ electricity bills starting in January 2025. K-Electric will implement this increase.
