NDMA Weather Alert June 2026: Floods and Storms Expected

NDMA Weather Alert June 2026 Warns of Heavy Rains and Flood Risks Across Pakistan

NDMA – (Web Desk) – The NDMA weather alert June 2026 has put the entire country on high alert, warning of dangerous weather conditions from June 16 to 20 as a western weather system moves across Pakistan.

The National Disaster Management Authority said heavy rains, strong winds, thunderstorms, and hailstorms are expected in many parts of the country during this period. Authorities have been told to stay ready for any emergency.

According to the NDMA, Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Balochistan, and northern Sindh are all likely to receive rain with thunderstorms over the coming days.

The authority warned that rising temperatures combined with heavy rainfall could trigger flood-like conditions in parts of KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir between June 16 and 19.

One of the biggest dangers highlighted in the alert is rapidly melting glaciers. The NDMA warned that glacial lakes could burst and send large volumes of water rushing into mountain rivers and streams below.

Areas including Hassanabad, Shisper, Gulkin, Gulmit, Passu, Nagar, Ghizer, Skardu, and Shigar have been named as high-risk zones for Glacial Lake Outburst Floods, commonly known as GLOFs.

The authority also warned that landslides and flash floods could block key roads and cut off communication routes in mountainous areas. All relevant departments have been told to keep a close watch on vulnerable highways and high-risk zones.

Tourists and travellers planning to visit northern areas are advised to check weather forecasts and road conditions before heading out. People can stay updated through the official Pak NDMA Disaster Alert mobile application.

All provincial and district administrations have been directed to remain fully prepared and respond quickly to any weather-related emergency that may arise during this period.
