Nadia Khan Says Celebrity Support May Have Increased Shahvir Kadwani Trolling

Actress Nadia Khan Questions Celebrity Support Amid Shahvir Kadwani Trolling Controversy

Islamabad: (Showbiz Desk) – Pakistani television host Nadia Khan has suggested that celebrities who publicly defended emerging actor Shahvir Kadwani against online trolling may have unintentionally amplified the controversy instead of helping it die down.

Speaking on Kya Drama Hai, Nadia shared the perspective of a production house head who believed that celebrities’ social media posts in support of Shahvir had brought additional attention to the issue. According to this view, allowing the controversy to fade on its own might have been a more effective response.

Nadia said Shahvir is still establishing himself in the entertainment industry and had limited recognition among international audiences before the controversy gained traction. However, support from prominent stars, including Mahira Khan and Sanam Saeed, helped bring the discussion to a wider audience.

The host explained that celebrities may not always consider how their public statements can influence online discussions. Although their intention may be to defend someone facing criticism, their posts can encourage more people to search for the person involved and learn about the controversy.

She also expressed concern that the increased attention could expose Shahvir to further scrutiny. In her view, drawing attention to a relatively new actor during an online backlash may lead more people, including international viewers, to explore both his work and the criticism surrounding him.

Nadia further suggested that ignoring online criticism can sometimes be more effective than responding publicly. She noted that social media controversies often lose momentum as audiences shift their attention to other trending topics.

Shahvir recently faced online trolling after sharing a video recreating Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic open-arms pose on a rooftop, with the song Gerua playing in the background. Some social media users criticised his expressions and confidence in the clip.

The actor made his television debut in the drama Sunn Mere Dil, which premiered in October 2024. He is currently appearing in Geo TV’s serial Mohabbat, in which he portrays a student who falls in love with his classmate, played by Aina Asif.
