Mystery Deepens: Humaira Asghar’s Decomposed Body Yields No Clues in Autopsy
Humaira had been living alone in her flat since 2018 and had ceased paying rent earlier this year.
Karachi– In a deeply distressing turn of events, the body of local actress Humaira Asghar Ali was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition inside her apartment in Karachi’s Defence Phase VI area. Preliminary findings from the postmortem have failed to determine a cause of death due to the severely decayed condition of the body, according to medical officials and police.
Police Surgeon Dr. Samia confirmed the condition of the remains made it impossible to establish a cause of death at this stage. “The body was badly decomposed and not fit for immediate forensic assessment,” she said, adding that samples have been sent for DNA identification and chemical analysis. “The cause of death has been reserved pending lab results.”
In a tragic development, the actress’s family has reportedly refused to claim her body. SSP South Mehroz Ali said the family informed authorities that their relationship with Humaira ended two years ago and they had no interest in receiving her remains. “Despite efforts to contact them and persuade a relative to travel to Karachi, there has been no further response,” the SSP stated.
Humaira had been living alone in her flat since 2018 and had ceased paying rent earlier this year. Police sources revealed that she led a life of extreme isolation and struggled with drug addiction. Neighbours described her as often embroiled in disputes and increasingly withdrawn from social interaction.
The Chhipa Foundation, which is assisting with the case, has placed the body in mobile cold storage due to its deteriorated condition. Authorities have now taken responsibility for her burial arrangements.
