Murad Saeed hiding in KP CM House, accused of plotting violent protests: Atta Tarar

PTI's protest linked to misinformation, armed agitators, says Information Minister

ISLAMABAD: In a strong statement, Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has claimed that former Minister Murad Saeed is currently hiding in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s House, allegedly involved in orchestrating violent protests. Tarar accused Saeed of being not only a participant in the protests but also of leading trained militants who were ordered to cause fatalities during the demonstrations.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Minister Tarar revealed that Saeed had meticulously planned the protests, which included attempts to breach the Red Zone in Islamabad, defying the state’s authority. Despite the Islamabad High Court’s clear order to avoid protests, Saeed and his associates insisted on marching to D-Chowk, bringing weapons and inciting violence. Tarar emphasized that law enforcement agencies were not authorized to use live ammunition, yet protestors were armed with weapons.

He also criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for spreading misinformation through foreign media, sharing fabricated videos and even images from Gaza and Palestine, falsely linking them to the protests in Islamabad. Tarar noted that the deaths during the protests were not due to gunfire, as confirmed by PIMS and Poly Clinic hospitals, but rather a result of indiscriminate shooting by agitators.

Furthermore, Tarar highlighted ongoing terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging the provincial leadership to focus on governance and public welfare instead of fueling political unrest. He stated that PTI’s protest had caused daily economic losses of around 192 billion rupees, and praised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for rejecting PTI’s call for chaos.

The minister also pointed out the presence of criminal elements, including Afghan nationals, in the protests, claiming that many were armed and trained in handling weapons. According to intelligence reports, the final call for the protest was designed to result in bloodshed, with PTI attempting to stage another violent demonstration for political gain.

Tarar concluded by saying that the provincial government’s resources should not be used to fund unlawful protests, urging accountability for the violence and chaos instigated by PTI. He further disclosed that 45 firearms were recovered from the protestors, and criticized the fact that weapons were being used in an unlawful demonstration, which is unheard of in civilized societies.
