Monsoon Winds Set to Bring Relief to Eastern Sindh from July 5

Jacobabad, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, and Nowshehro Feroze are scheduled to encounter wind and thundershowers on July 6.

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department’s Early Warning Center has forecasted the onset of monsoon winds entering eastern Sindh starting from Friday, July 5. Anticipating their influence, thundershowers are expected in various districts including Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, and Badin on July 5 and 6. Similarly, Ghotki, Sukkur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, and Dadu are also likely to experience rainfall during this period.

Jacobabad, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, and Nowshehro Feroze are scheduled to encounter wind and thundershowers on July 6. Meanwhile, Karachi can expect partly cloudy weather today and tomorrow, with Friday shaping up to be mostly cloudy. Temperature-wise, maximums are projected to range from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius over the next three days, with the return of sea breezes also anticipated.

Monsoon 2024 second spell to lash Balochistan today

According to the Meteorological Department a new monsoon rain system will enter Balochistan today (Wednesday) and heat intensity continues in most areas of Balochistan.

In different areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, the intensity of heat remains Sibi 48, Torbat Nokundi 47, Gwadar 43. Maximum 38 degrees was recorded in Quetta.

PDMA Control Room Incharge Ameer Ahmed said there will be heavy rains in the Lasbela district.

According to the PDMA, this year’s monsoon rains will be more impactful than the 2022 monsoon rains.

The second spell of Monsoon will continue till July 7.

Food security high alert issued amid monsoons rains, floods forecast

Federal Minister for Food Security Rana Tanveer directed Pasco to remain on high alert to keep its reserves safe during monsoon given the forecast of rains and floods.

He said that all necessary measures should be taken to deal with any sudden calamity.

Rana Tanveer reviewed food security measures in the wake of forecast of rains and floods as Monsoons rains lashed parts of cities across the country.

The minister directed official to ensure effective measures on priority basis to secure Pasco’s wheat reserves.

The federal minister directed to form a coordinated strategy to protect all the warehouses of Pasco from rains.

He said ensure special measures are taken to protect warehouses in low-lying areas from rainwater and urged coordinated teams to be formed under the supervision of all center in-charges.
