MNFS&R Takes Steps to Resolve Challenges and Enhance Rice Export
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFS&R) has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving challenges faced by rice exporters and ensuring compliance with international phytosanitary standards to enhance rice export from Pakistan.
This announcement follows concerns raised by exporters regarding the non-issuance of Phytosanitary Certificates. To address these issues, the ministry, in collaboration with stakeholders, has implemented comprehensive measures. A high-level meeting with the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) highlighted the ministry’s dedication to supporting exporters while maintaining Pakistan’s global trade reputation.
The Department of Plant Protection (DPP) is actively working to streamline the process of issuing Phytosanitary Certificates and ensuring compliance with Pakistan Plant Quarantine Rules (PPQR) 2019 and the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).
MNFS&R emphasized that any compromise on food safety and phytosanitary standards could lead to stricter trade barriers or even export bans, negatively impacting Pakistan’s economy and credibility. Exporters are urged to align with these regulatory requirements to ensure seamless trade operations.
