Miftah Ismail Advocates Unprecedented Alliance: PML-N Eyes Government Formation with PTI

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail on Friday made significant revelations including expressing his desire to form a government with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party.

Ismail pointed out the prevailing economic challenges Pakistan is facing, saying that a government’s “first priority should be to reduce inflation”.

The former federal finance minister stated that inflation is increasing by 25 per cent every month and that more than 40 per cent of the entire country is poor.

Ismail stressed the importance of prioritising economic stability and alleviating the burden of rising prices on the public.

Commenting on the political landscape, Ismail voiced concerns regarding allegations of rigging in elections. He stated that it is not uncommon for the losing party to question the fairness of the electoral process.

He was sceptical about the current government’s ability to complete its term, citing ongoing economic difficulties and political uncertainty.

However, he threw his support behind Shehbaz Sharif as a prospective prime minister, expressing hope for his success in steering the country towards economic prosperity.

Ismail also voiced concerns about the country’s reliance on international financial institutions, urging the incoming government to explore alternative strategies for economic development.
He said that “the new government that will form should not deal with the I[nternational] M[onetary] F[und]”.
