Mehwish Hayat Applauds Historic Win for Women’s Football

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Mehwish Hayat praised a landmark moment for Pakistan’s women’s football, celebrating the team’s historic success on the international stage.

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, the actress commended the Pakistan Women’s National Football Team for their standout performance at the FIFA Series 2026. In her message, she congratulated the players for making history and expressed hope that their achievement would inspire young girls across the country to pursue their dreams.

The recognition followed Pakistan’s commanding 8–0 win against the Turks and Caicos Islands Women’s National Football Team in Côte d’Ivoire—marking the biggest international victory in the team’s history. The tournament itself was also a milestone, as it was the first time any senior Pakistani football squad, male or female, participated in a global FIFA series.

Beyond celebrating the victory, Mehwish highlighted the urgent need for better infrastructure and genuine institutional support for football in Pakistan. She emphasized that both women’s and men’s teams deserve equal opportunities and proper platforms to grow and succeed.

Off-screen, Mehwish continues to expand her influence. She is set to reunite with Fahad Mustafa in Pakistan’s first major zombie-themed survival film, directed by Nabeel Qureshi.

In addition to her entertainment career, she is actively involved in humanitarian work as a brand ambassador for Penny Appeal, supporting efforts to rebuild schools in Sukkur, Sindh. She is also preparing to launch the Women’s Leadership Exchange, a global initiative focused on tackling challenges faced by women worldwide.
