Marwat Stands Firm, Refutes PTI’s Reasons for Expulsion

Peshawar_Sher Afzal Marwat, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has rejected the party’s notification expelling him from its ranks. Marwat has denied the allegations leveled against him, calling the expulsion move “unjust” and “politically motivated”.
In a statement on social media platform X (formerly), Marwat declared, “After consulting around two dozen core committee members and senior party leaders, I announce that yesterday’s expulsion order was neither discussed nor brought to the core committee’s attention. It was also unknown to the party chairman, Barrister Gohar, who presided over the meeting.”
Marwat questioned the legitimacy of the expulsion decree, alleging it was issued in a “dubious and hasty manner,” fraudulently incorporated into the Core Committee’s proceedings, and shown to an unauthorised individual.
He expressed his trust in Barrister Gauhar, stating, “I have discussed all matters with Barrister Gauhar today and have given full authority to the Chairman in writing to decide on my party and parliamentary membership. I have full confidence in him.”
The MNA emphasised his commitment to his constituents, announcing plans to call a Grand Jirga to seek their consent, stressing that the will and approval of his voters are paramount.
Marwat also condemned the language used in the expulsion notification by PTI’s Additional Secretary General, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, who demanded his resignation from Parliament without the approval of Barrister Gauhar. He added, “No one gave me an opportunity to be heard, and I was never questioned. In the past, fake notifications were issued for wrong reasons.”
