Margat Double Murder: Victims Not Married, Families Refuse FIR: CM Balochistan

The Chief Minister strongly condemned victim-blaming, asserting that no individual has the right to take lives over personal judgments.

Quetta – Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has taken strong notice of the horrific murder of a woman and a man in Margat, stating that swift action had already begun even before the gruesome video went viral on social media. He confirmed that 11 suspects have been arrested so far, with raids ongoing to apprehend more involved in the crime.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, CM Bugti made it clear that there would be no sympathy for the killers, emphasizing that the state always stands with the oppressed. He announced the suspension of the area DSP and confirmed the arrest of tribal leader Sardar Sherbaz Khan in connection with the case.

Bugti assured the public that a transparent and impartial investigation is underway. He also dismissed misinformation circulating online, clarifying that the incident was not an “honor killing” of a newlywed couple, as rumored. The female victim, Bano Bibi, was already married and a mother of five, while the male victim, Ihsanullah, was also married.

The Chief Minister strongly condemned victim-blaming, asserting that no individual has the right to take lives over personal judgments. He further stated that the government would not tolerate extrajudicial punishments carried out under the guise of tribal “jirgas” (councils), and that strict action is being taken against such illegal practices.

Although the victims’ families have so far refused to file a First Information Report (FIR), the state has taken the initiative to register the case itself. Bugti reaffirmed that all those involved will be brought before the court and justice will be ensured.

He concluded by stating that the rule of law will prevail, and future incidents of this nature will face strict legal consequences, with no tolerance for parallel justice systems.
