Malicious Propaganda Will Not Be Tolerated
Islamabad(Mudassar Iqbal) In response to the recent surge in terrorism and vandalism, the Pakistani government has established a Joint Task Force (JTF) to identify and prosecute individuals and groups involved in spreading malicious propaganda against the state.
The JTF, comprising representatives from various government agencies, will investigate and pursue those responsible for creating and disseminating fake news, particularly surrounding the recent incidents in Islamabad from November 24-27, 2024.
Composition of the Joint Task Force
The JTF will be chaired by the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecom Authority, with the following members:
– Joint Secretary, Ministry of Interior
– Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
– Director Cyber Crime Wing, FIA
– Director IT, Ministry of IT & T
– Joint Director Intelligence Bureau
– DIG Police, ICT
– Representatives from ISI and MI
– Any other members co-opted by the JTF
Terms of Reference
The JTF’s terms of reference include:
1. Identifying individuals, groups, and organizations involved in creating and spreading fake news.
2. Tracking and tracing individuals and groups, whether in Pakistan or abroad, involved in this malicious campaign and bringing them to justice.
3. Suggesting measures to bridge policy gaps.
Timeline and Objectives
The JTF is expected to present its findings within 10 days and bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest. The primary objectives of the JTF are to:
– Identify and prosecute those responsible for malicious propaganda
– Prevent the spread of fake news and misinformation
– Protect the country’s national interests and maintain law and order
