Litton Das Named Captain as Bangladesh Announces Squad for UAE, Pakistan T20I Tours
Das Exits PSL with Finger Injury During Training
DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled a 16-member squad for its upcoming T20 International tours of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan, with experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das appointed as the team’s new T20I captain.
Das, 30, officially takes over the leadership role following Najmul Hossain Shanto’s decision to step down earlier this year. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan has been named vice-captain for both tours.
Das brings significant leadership experience, having previously captained Bangladesh in one Test, seven ODIs, and four T20Is. He also led the side during a T20I series against the West Indies in December last year when Shanto was sidelined with an injury.
The newly appointed skipper was recently part of the Karachi Kings squad in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but withdrew from the tournament due to a finger injury sustained during training.
Five players have returned to the T20I squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam — all adding depth and experience to the lineup.
