Literary icon, actor, theater legend Zia Mohyeddin passed away in Karachi

Karachi: (Showbiz Reporter) The literary icon, veteran actor, theater legend and director and television host Zia Mohyeddin passed away at the age of 91. The master thespian breathed his last in Karachi today. The funeral prayer of late Zia Mohyeddin will be offered at Imam Bargah Yasrab in Defense Phase 4 today after Zuhr prayer.
According to the sources, Zia Mohyeddin admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi due to fever and severe abdominal pain. It was later found in ultrasound that he was having intestinal issues. The actor then underwent an operation and was shifted to the intensive care ward (ICU) of the hospital.
As per details Zia Mohyeddin was born on June 20, 1931 in Faisalabad and got an opportunity to act in the famous film Lawrence of Arabia, in which he played a memorable role in 1962. Zia Mohyeddin also hosted a stage program called ‘Zia Mohyeddin Show’ and the late was also awarded Hilal e Imtiaz in 2012 by the then government.
Furthermore in 2005, Zia Mohyeddin set up the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) in Karachi. He also wrote books titled ‘A Carrot is a Carrot’, ‘Theatrics and The God of My Idolatry Memories’ and ‘Reflections’. Zia Mohyeddin’s father had the distinction of being the dialogue writer of Pakistan’s first film Teri Yaad.
Meanwhile PM, CM caretaker and Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed condolence over death of legendary Zia Mohyeddin
Prime Minister (PM): Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of legendary director, actor, writer and host Zia Mohyeddin and prayed for the departed soul while commiserating with the bereaved family.
Moreover in a statement, he said Zia Mohyeddin’s unique style earned fame all over the world including Pakistan. “Zia Mohyeddin introduced a new dimension to television hosting in Pakistan and that he earned a good name for the country by acting at international level,” the PM added.
CM caretaker: Punjab caretaker chief minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi and his family expressed grief on the sad news of Zia Mohyeddin’s demise and sent his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family saying the literary icon was a versatile artist.
Marriyum Aurangzeb: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb also sent her heartfelt condolences to the late icon’s family.
