LHC Reserves Judgment on Ishaq Dar’s Deputy PM Appointment

Court Hears Arguments on Ishaq Dar's Appointment as Deputy PM

Lahore: The Lahore High Court has reserved its judgment on an intra-court appeal challenging the appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan. The case was heard by a two-member bench, led by Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal.

During the hearing, the petitioner, a woman who had filed the challenge, presented her arguments, while the federal government was represented by Additional Attorney General Nasir Ahmed Mirza. Mirza argued that the Prime Minister holds the discretionary authority to nominate a Deputy Prime Minister and clarified that Ishaq Dar was not exercising executive powers as Deputy PM nor receiving any salary or privileges tied to the position.
