Latest Policy Opens New Doors for Arts Students
A sub-committee was also formed to review examination reforms at the Matric and intermediate levels.
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has recommended that students who completed Matric in the arts group be allowed to enroll in FSc (Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering), ICS, and Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) programs.
IBCC Director Dr. Shahzad Ali Gill briefed participants on the agenda. The committee suggested extending science and technical education opportunities to arts students, giving them equal access to professional fields. The final decision will be made in the next IBCC Forum meeting.
Officials said the move could help bridge the gap between general and technical education in Pakistan, expanding career pathways for arts students.
The meeting also proposed that, starting in 2026, 50 percent of exam papers should consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to make assessments more transparent and standardized. The committee further discussed grading reforms for new Matric tech courses and the integration of technical boards into provincial BCCs.
