Kuwait Announces Three-Day Public Holiday for Shab-e-Miraj

Kuwait City – In a special announcement, the Kuwaiti Civil Service Commission has declared a three-day public holiday from Thursday, January 30, to Saturday, February 1, to commemorate Isra Wal Miraj, also known as Shab-e-Miraj.

While Isra Wal Miraj officially falls on January 27, the Kuwaiti Cabinet has decided to observe the holiday on Thursday, offering residents a long weekend to mark the occasion. The holiday honors the significant event in Islamic tradition when Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) journey and ascension to the heavens took place.

During this period, all government departments and public institutions will be closed, resuming work on Sunday, February 2. However, essential services, including healthcare and emergency response, will adjust their holiday schedules to ensure uninterrupted operations for the public’s needs.
