Korangi SSP Held Responsible For Negligence In DHA Assault Case
Inquiry report recommends action against Fida Janwari and four other officers over mishandling
Karachi – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – A police inquiry has confirmed Korangi SSP negligence in the handling of an assault case involving a brother and sister in Karachi’s Defence area. The committee found that SSP Fida Janwari failed to properly oversee the response to the incident.
South DIG Asad Raza said the investigation was carried out openly and fairly. He confirmed that the findings have now been sent to the additional inspector general for further action.
The case involves Noor ul Ain and her brother, who were attacked outside their home in Khayaban-e-Bukhari. A woman reportedly hit Noor with a dumbbell during the confrontation.
A video of the attack spread quickly online. It showed police officers holding back Noor and her companion instead of stopping the attacker. Someone in plain clothes was also seen grabbing an officer’s weapon and using it to damage a CCTV camera nearby.
The Sindh High Court has stepped in and directed police to provide safety for the affected family.
Sources say the inquiry report wants the case filed against the siblings dropped completely. It also calls for legal action against four Korangi officers, including SHO Rashid Ali and two others linked to the response.
The report additionally recommends a fresh case be registered based on the family’s complaint, along with charges against the two women and one man caught assaulting them on camera.
DIG Raza confirmed that anyone found responsible will face consequences under the law.
