Kohat Police Lines Blast Kills 21, Including 15 Cops, Over 100 Injured

Explosion Near Mosque During Friday Prayers Triggers Emergency In Kohat

Kohat– (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Kohat Police Lines blast has left the city in shock after a powerful explosion tore through the area near a local mosque on Friday. At least 15 people lost their lives, and more than 50 others were hurt in the attack, according to hospital officials.

The blast struck at a painful moment, just as worshippers had gathered for Friday prayers. Many of those caught in the explosion were ordinary people who had simply come to pray in peace.

Tahir Ali Shah, the Medical Superintendent at District Headquarters Hospital, spoke to Geo News shortly after the incident. He confirmed that 15 bodies were brought to the hospital, along with dozens of injured patients needing urgent care.

Police officials who reached the site said the explosion left a large crater right outside the mosque. The force of the blast was strong enough to damage nearby buildings and shake the surrounding streets.

Sadly, police personnel were also among those hurt in the attack. Officers stationed in the Police Lines area were caught off guard by the sudden explosion.

Soon after the blast, more security forces were sent to the area. Extra police teams were deployed to secure the site and prevent any further danger to residents.

Rescue teams arrived quickly and began pulling survivors from the rubble. Officials said the mosque’s outer wall had collapsed, and part of the building’s outer section was badly damaged.

Workers could be seen searching through debris for anyone still trapped. The rescue effort continued for hours as teams worked carefully to make sure no one was left behind.

To keep the area safe during the operation, authorities shut down the Kohat-Hangu Road completely. No vehicles were allowed to pass through until the situation was brought under control.

The hospital administration also declared an emergency once the injured started arriving in large numbers. Doctors and nurses worked around the clock to treat patients as quickly as possible.

Later updates from hospital staff revealed that at least 25 injured people had been admitted for treatment. Many of them were said to be in serious condition, and medical teams were doing everything they could to save lives.

Families of the victims rushed to the hospital, desperate for information about their loved ones. The scene outside the hospital was filled with worry, grief, and confusion as people searched for answers.

Local residents described the moment of the blast as terrifying. Many said they heard a loud bang followed by screams, and some ran toward the mosque to help however they could.

This attack has once again raised serious concerns about safety in the Kohat district. People are now asking hard questions about how such an explosion could happen so close to a mosque during prayer time.

As of now, no group has officially claimed responsibility for the blast. Investigators are working to understand exactly what caused the explosion and who might be behind it.

Authorities have promised a full investigation into the incident. Security forces are also reviewing safety measures in the Police Lines area to prevent something like this from happening again.

For now, the focus remains on treating the injured and supporting the families affected by this tragic event. The community continues to mourn as more details slowly come to light.
