Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to open new govt schools in rented buildings
According to the documents, the schools will be leased for 3, 4 and 5 years.
PESHAWAR: It has been decided not to construct new buildings of government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Instead, government schools will now operate in rented buildings.
According to reports, work is underway to start a project under the concept of renting out buildings in view of financial constraints and the need for immediate provision of school facilities, according to official documents. In the initial phase, 650 primary and middle schools will be started in rented buildings.
Sources say that the construction of the school building takes five years and costs Rs 30 million, which is not possible due to empty treasury.
Reports indicate that the documents state that the chartered schools will be set up in merged and settled districts, a project that will cost Rs 1.4 billion, while saving over Rs 5 billion.
According to the documents, the schools will be leased for 3, 4 and 5 years.

Education department officials say that in view of the challenges, it has been decided to start schools in rented buildings. This project will provide school facilities to more number of students.
