Khamenei Sons Pray Funeral as Mojtaba Stays Away
Khamenei sons pray funeral rites in Tehran, but new supreme leader Mojtaba remains missing from public view
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – (Web Desk) – Three sons of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei took part as Khamenei sons pray funeral prayers beside his coffin on Sunday. Mostafa, Meysam, and Masoud Khamenei stood together in Tehran, but their brother Mojtaba, who now leads Iran as supreme leader, did not show up.
State television aired footage of the three brothers praying behind five coffins. The caskets held the ayatollah and four family members who died in the same February 28 strike.
Iran is holding a full week of funeral events. The plan includes stops in Tehran, Qom, and two holy cities in Iraq before a final burial in Mashhad.
Khamenei’s coffin sat outdoors on Saturday under glass. Beside it lay the coffins of his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and a 14-month-old granddaughter.
There is still no photo or video of Mojtaba since the attack that killed his father. Officials say he was hurt in the same strike but give few details on his condition.

A ceasefire has paused the four-month war between Iran, Israel, and the United States. President Trump said peace talks are on hold for one week during the funeral events.
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also joined Sunday’s prayers. Masoud Khamenei was seen crying and wiping tears with a keffiyeh scarf during the service.
Large crowds have packed the Mosalla complex since Saturday night. Tehran’s metro reported seven million rides as people traveled to join the mourning.
The coffin travels to Qom on Tuesday, then to Najaf and Kerbala in Iraq on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Mashhad on Thursday, near the tomb of another Shia imam.
