High-level summit marks India’s first senior official visit to Pakistan in nearly a decade, with discussions focusing on regional cooperation and trade.**
Pakistan is preparing to host its inaugural Council of Heads of Government meeting for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad, with India’s foreign minister set to participate. This marks the first time in nearly ten years that a senior Indian official will visit Pakistan.
The summit, a significant milestone for Pakistan, comes after Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s attendance at the 2023 SCO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Goa. The event will bring together top officials and heads of government from SCO member states and observer nations, focusing on strengthening regional collaboration in areas such as trade and security.
SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming and Ruslan Mirzaif, Executive Director of the SCO RATS Committee, will also be present. Leaders from Mongolia and Turkmenistan, including Prime Minister Oyun Erdene Luvsannamsrai and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Rashid Meredov, will represent their nations.
The business community will have representation as well, with Atif Ikram Shaikh, Chairman of the SCO Business Council Board, and Marat Belybayev, Chairman of the SCO Interbank Union, participating in discussions on economic cooperation.

The meeting is expected to address key regional issues and reinforce multilateral partnerships among SCO members.
