Keisuke Honda Loses Ad Deal Over World Cup Comments

Former Japan Star Honda Ad Deal Cancelled Over Iran Support

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Former Keisuke Honda revealed that a US-based company cancelled a planned advertising campaign with him after he expressed support for Iran national football team participating in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Honda shared his views on the social media platform X, acknowledging the sensitivity of the topic but emphasizing his belief that Iran’s team should be allowed to compete.

“I know this is a very sensitive matter, but personally I want Iran’s national team to participate in the World Cup,” he wrote.

Following his statement, the US company reportedly decided to suspend and ultimately cancel the advertising deal that had been scheduled to run during the tournament. Honda expressed disappointment at the decision, criticizing what he described as a lack of understanding behind such corporate actions.

The former midfielder has frequently voiced his opinions on social and political issues, both during and after his football career, often attracting public attention beyond the pitch.
