Karachi Records Over 34,000 Crime Cases in Six Months, 264 Killed
The report stated that 40 citizens were shot dead by robbers after resisting during robbery attempts.
KARACHI: (Crime Reporter) – At least 264 people lost their lives in various violent incidents across Karachi during the first six months of the year, while 224 cases of child abduction or missing children were also reported.
According to a police report, the city witnessed more than 34,000 criminal incidents during the period, highlighting growing concerns over street crime and serious offences.
The report stated that 40 citizens were shot dead by robbers after resisting during robbery attempts. Police also recorded 443 incidents of firing and attempted murder, while 1,788 kidnapping cases linked to personal disputes and other matters were registered.
Police data further showed that 18 high-profile kidnapping-for-ransom cases were reported, while 2,530 incidents of robbery and theft took place at highways, shops and homes. Another 1,485 miscellaneous theft cases were also recorded.

Vehicle theft remained a major concern, with 5,777 motorcycles stolen or snatched across the city during the six-month period. A total of 636 cars and 194 other vehicles, including commercial and loader vehicles, were also reported stolen or snatched.
During operations against criminal elements, police registered 3,394 cases involving illegal possession or display of weapons. Authorities also reported 246 cases related to gambling and betting.
