Joe Root Tops ICC Test Batting Rankings After Lord’s Heroics

In bowling, spinner Noman Ali remains fifth in the Test rankings, with Shaheen Afridi moving up to 21st.

ISLAMABAD: Joe Root has claimed the number one spot in the ICC men’s Test batting rankings following his scores of 104 and 40 in England’s thrilling 22-run win over India at Lord’s. Root, with 888 rating points, overtakes teammate Harry Brook, who now sits third. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is second.

Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel rose to 12th, while Saim Ayub climbed to joint 83rd. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam held steady at 21st and 23rd respectively.

In bowling, spinner Noman Ali remains fifth in the Test rankings, with Shaheen Afridi moving up to 21st. Jasprit Bumrah retains the top spot in bowling, followed by Kagiso Rabada and Pat Cummins.

Australia’s Scott Boland surged to sixth after a hat-trick in the pink-ball Test against the West Indies. Australia now has five bowlers in the top 10, including captain Pat Cummins (3rd).

Indian batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and captain Shubman Gill dropped slightly in the rankings following the Lord’s defeat.

In all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja leads, followed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Dean Elgar. Nouman Ali slipped to 22nd among all-rounders, while Salman Ali Agha moved up to 33rd.
