Jamaat-e-Islami Protests Nationwide Against Inflation and High Electricity Tariffs

“Our ‘Haq do Awam Ko’ movement is a fight for the people’s rights,” said the JI leader.

Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced a series of nationwide protests against rising inflation and increased electricity tariffs. Speaking to the media, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman confirmed that a major sit-in (dharna) will be held in Islamabad on July 26, demanding relief from exorbitant electricity bills and oppressive taxes.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman emphasized that the protest is a response to what he called an “anti-people budget” and the government’s failure to provide relief amidst increasing living costs. He criticized the government for raising electricity tariffs and taxes at the behest of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which he claims has placed undue financial strain on the public.

“Our ‘Haq do Awam Ko’ movement is a fight for the people’s rights,” said the JI leader. “We will not leave until our demands are met, and we will continue to mobilize the public until the sit-in. The government must address the heavy electricity bills and the oppressive slab system.”
