Islamabad Increases Vehicle Transfer Fees, Now Includes Electric Vehicles

All payments are to be deposited in the official account designated by the Ministry of Finance.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has announced a significant increase in vehicle transfer fees, effective from April 14, 2025. The revised fee structure applies to both fuel-powered and electric vehicles, with electric cars being included for the first time.

Revised Transfer Fee Structure:

  • Cars up to 1000cc: Increased from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,750

  • Cars between 1000cc and 1800cc: Increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,500

  • Cars above 1800cc: Increased from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 11,000

Electric Vehicles (EVs) – Transfer Fee Introduced:

  • Up to 50 kW: Rs. 2,500

  • 50 kW to 100 kW: Rs. 5,500

  • Above 100 kW: Rs. 10,000

Motorbike Transfer Fee Revised:

  • Up to 200cc: Increased from Rs. 150 to Rs. 550

  • 200cc to 400cc: Rs. 1,000

  • Above 400cc: Rs. 1,500

All payments are to be deposited in the official account designated by the Ministry of Finance.

The decision has drawn mixed reactions from vehicle owners and dealers, with some expressing concerns over the burden of increased costs, while others appreciate the move to include EVs under a formal regulatory framework.
