Ishaq Dar Holds Talks with UK, Uzbek, and Azeri FMs
Dar Thanks Azeri FM for Warm Hospitality
Islamabad – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a series of high-level telephonic conversations aimed at strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.
In a call with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, both leaders discussed enhancing cooperation across all international forums, including the United Nations Security Council. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two agreed to maintain close coordination and expressed their intent to meet in person during the upcoming high-level UN meetings later this month.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Dar spoke with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov. The two sides reviewed progress on the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) railway project. They discussed the finalization of the trilateral framework agreement, arrangements for the signing ceremony, and coordination with Afghan leadership. The project was termed a milestone for regional connectivity and trade development.
In another telephonic exchange, Foreign Minister Dar also spoke with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov. He conveyed gratitude on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani delegation for the warm hospitality extended during their recent visit to Azerbaijan.

The two ministers also discussed preparations for the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, scheduled to be held in early July 2025 in Azerbaijan. They exchanged views on the summit’s agenda, expected participants, and organizational matters.
