Ireland Stun World Champions India by 34 Runs in Historic T20I Victory

BELFAST (Web Desk) – Ireland registered their first-ever victory over India in any format after defeating the world champions by 34 runs in the opening match of their two-game T20I series at Stormont on Friday.
Chasing a target of 183, India were bowled out for 148 with seven deliveries remaining as Ireland’s disciplined bowling attack prevented the visitors from building any substantial partnerships.
Opener Abhishek Sharma was India’s top scorer with 49, while Shivam Dube added 25. However, no other batter managed to make a meaningful contribution.
Ireland’s bowling was led by fast bowler Matt Hollard, who claimed 3-28, while left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys also took three wickets for 38 runs.
Earlier, Ireland posted a competitive 182-9 in their 20 overs, thanks to a fluent half-century from captain Lorcan Tucker, who scored 50, and a valuable 49 from Gareth Delany.
