Iran dismisses US ceasefire extension links talks to blockade
Tehran has received signals suggesting Washington may be willing to ease the blockade.
TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – In Tehran, an adviser to the Iranian parliament has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding an extension of the ceasefire, calling it irrelevant and asserting that a weakened United States cannot impose its terms on Iran.
The adviser further argued that the ongoing US blockade is effectively an act of aggression equivalent to military strikes and warned that it warrants a strong response.
He also cautioned that extending the ceasefire could be a tactic to buy time for a potential surprise attack, stressing that Iran must remain proactive and in control of the situation.
Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, stated that Tehran has received signals suggesting Washington may be willing to ease the blockade.

He added that Iran would be open to participating in talks in Islamabad, provided that the United States lifts its blockade, particularly in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian officials, the removal of restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz remains a key condition for resuming diplomatic negotiations.
