Iran Confirms Navy Chief’s Death as Trump Signals Possible Deal Soon
Trump claims Iran regime shift as conflict spreads across region
WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Donald Trump has claimed that the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran has effectively resulted in a shift in leadership within Tehran, suggesting that a diplomatic agreement could be reached in the near future. He stated that the current Iranian leadership appears more open to negotiations compared to the past.
Iranian media confirmed the death of Alireza Tangsiri, who reportedly succumbed to injuries after a targeted strike. Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz said the operation eliminated Tangsiri along with other senior naval officials.
The conflict has widened across the region, with Iran launching missile attacks toward Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, strikes on Iran’s power infrastructure caused significant outages in Tehran and nearby regions, worsening conditions for civilians already enduring weeks of bombardment.
In southern Lebanon, fighting between Israeli forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah continues. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon reported that one peacekeeper was killed and another seriously injured after a projectile struck one of its positions. The source of the attack remains under investigation.

Trump also revealed that Iran has accepted most elements of a proposed 15-point framework aimed at ending hostilities. He indicated that indirect negotiations, facilitated through Pakistan, have made progress and could soon lead to a formal agreement.
Pakistan has expressed willingness to mediate, with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stating that both Washington and Tehran trust Islamabad’s role in facilitating dialogue. However, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the US of using diplomacy as a cover while preparing for further military action.
The conflict has taken a heavy toll on civilians in Iran, where residents report constant fear due to intense nightly airstrikes. The escalation has also disrupted global energy markets, especially after Iran moved to block the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping route.
Oil prices have surged sharply, with global benchmarks rising above $100 per barrel, raising concerns about economic fallout worldwide.
